In my classroom I usually pick owls, chevron, etc. When I saw the new Teacher Created Superhero Collection, I couldn't wait to use the products. My son loves superheroes so I have watched many of the movies and read comic books with him. When I received the box from Teacher Created Resources I was so excited I forgot to take a picture before I got to work. I can't believe I forgot. I will post links to all the amazing products at the end.
I wanted to start by talking about how amazing these Superhero Library Pockets are! I have used many different library pockets throughout the years, however these are much stronger and not made out of the typical thin paper. I know these will easily last the rest of the school year and will not need to be replaced.
At my school, we do a school wide positive behavior program. We use what is called Sun Dollars, which are our money. Students earn them when they do good deeds. At the end of each month we have a Sun Dollar Day, booths and games are set up for the students. Any student who has twenty dollars can attend, any over twenty go in to a raffle for prizes. In my class I do take other things into consideration, homework, behavior, etc. Sometimes I have students who are awesome but do not reach the twenty. I do not hand them out to much in class due to using individual stamp charts (sticker charts, but I stamp them instead). When students receive a Sun Dollar they will be able to put them in their pocket to keep them safe and sound.
In my classroom a lot of the furniture has been around for a long time, I could of even sat in one of those chairs when I was in Kindergarten! I have had these cubbies awhile and this felt is glued to the back, I tried to peel it off but it is definitely their to stay. I covered it with some fabric, put on the awesome two-sided border from the Superhero Collection, and then started on the pockets. During the holiday clearance I picked up this awesome glitter ribbon and knew I would need it one day! It worked perfect for this. I hot glued each pocket to the ribbon and used a staple gun to put it up. I did make sure to go to the other side and push the staples in so no students will touch them. I then used the thought bubbles to spell out wow, I keep going back and forth on whether to put an exclamation on it or not. I love the way this turned out!
In my classroom I have this cave area where the sink is. The walls are brick and it is very hard to get anything to stick to them. I wasn't sure what to do, then here came the Superhero Borders to the rescue. They worked perfectly to put student work on and then using a staple gun staple the top of it to the ceiling and like magic the brick looked like it belonged! I have asked many times to paint it but we are not allowed to.
As soon as I saw the Superhero Mask Accents, I knew that I would be using them as a photo prop. Each one was put on a craft stick using glue dots and the students pretended like they were flying! I then cut out the pictures, some cute capes, and using my silhouette some glittery clouds. Each student was also asked what their Kindergarten Super Power would be. They had some very cute responses, many of them chose one of the Character Counts Traits that we use at our school. I then typed it up and put it all together on this amazing Superhero Computer Paper. I was originally going to write their responses on the thought bubbles but I liked it printed a lot better. I am going to have the students draw themselves using their super power in the thought bubble and attach this to their paper. We will do this first thing on Monday and I will post an up to date picture that night.
I then added some tulle as the sky and a small sun in the corner. I want to also add some clouds and I feel that this display will grow a lot within in the next few months, I just keep getting more ideas. Teacher Created Resources also has a bulletin board pack that I will be ordering to add on to the display!
I really enjoyed using the Superhero Collection from Teacher Created Resources! The students love superheroes! Here are the links to all the amazing products I used:
They also have a lot more in the collection!
